Bella Housa’s unique community was first conceived by George Hom in 2004.

George Hom wanted to create a place for people who, like him, want to continue living a meaningful, fulfilling, and purposeful life after they reached “retirement” age.

George was very civic-minded and environmentally conscious. His goal was to provide beautiful, well-designed, well-built homes that were affordable.

He spent over a year planning and preparing for Bella Housa Village. Sadly, George died suddenly in July, 2006, just one week before the official ground-breaking of his Bella Housa Village dream project.

Determined to continue her husband’s dream, Merle Hom boldly moved forward with the project, and has led the way ever since.

Merle has had extensive experience in real estate, having spent years as a real estate salesperson, broker, rental property manager, and assistant to George in his real estate endeavors. Also a National Board Certified Teacher, Merle has been a passionate, successful public school educator for many years.

Upon George’s death, Merle resigned and retired from her teaching career so that she could devote all her time and energy to Bella Housa Village.

Today, Merle Hom embodies the spirit of George’s dream. Her passion and devotion for Bella Housa are both admirable and inspiring. To fully understand the unique concept for Bella Housa, one needs to only meet Merle once! When you visit Bella Housa, be sure to say hello.
